The New Sanctuary Coalition of Northwest Arkansas is an interfaith network of congregations, organizations, and individuals, standing publicly in solidarity with families and communities resisting detention and deportation. We believe it is a moral priority to stop separating families. We recognize that unjust global and systemic economic relationships and racism form the basis of the injustices that affect immigrants. We seek reform of United States immigration laws to promote fairness, social and economic justice.

Our Beginning

In 2017, our communities began gathering with the Civic Imagination Project to imagine a shared civic life that offers sanctuary for all. In the spring of 2019, an expanded network of faith and community leaders began organizing the network. In September of 2019, we publicly launched the NWA New Sanctuary Network. We’re still young and learning as we grow, but committed to sanctuary everywhere.

“[One] who will not help or support others unless they can do so without affecting their safety or their property will never help their neighbor.”

— Martin Luther, 1527
